Oh Baby!

So the cat's out of the bag - Tim and I are expecting a baby in 2013!
To be exact, the due date is
June 5, 2013

For those of you interested here is how we found out....and some of the milestones that followed.

October 5, 2012 (Tim's birthday)
I knew there was a chance that we may be pregnant but I thought the odds were low and that we would get a negative test back. However, it was Tim's birthday and I had planned ahead in case we did get pregnant, as I thought it would be a fun surprise to find out then. I woke up really early on his birthday and snuck into the other room to take the test.  I was actually shocked when it came back positive and knew that it would be the best present ever! I had ordered a little onesie (see pic below) for when we did find out - without Tim knowing. I grabbed the package and jumped back in bed. Tim was still sleeping but I couldn't resist gently waking him and wishing him a happy birthday. I asked him if he wanted his first gift for the day, mind you it was only about 6am! He said sure and I handed him the bag with the onesie. As he dipped his hand in there and pulled it out he had the most shocked and excited look on his face. He asked me if it was for real - I said "yes!" We got so excited and were so in awe of how cute and little the onesie was and spent the next hour pinching ourselves and being giddy. For those of you who know that I am awful at pulling off surprises this was by far my best one yet, and will make it a birthday present hard to top!

So no one ever tells you how excruciating the wait is for your first appointment...Tim and I found out I was pregnant when we were 5 weeks along. We had to wait another 5 1/2 weeks to see my doctor and get a chance to hear from a professional, "congrats you are indeed pregnant!" On our first visit we were also surprised  when she performed an ultrasound. We got to see the baby for the first time and hear the heartbeat. The baby looked like it was dancing. It was incredible.

Ultrasound #1 - Dancing Baby

We went back again and got an impromptu ultrasound, here is a pic from that.

Ultrasound #2 - Baby Heartbeat

December 4, 2012
We scheduled our first "big" ultrasound for screening around week 14. We received back the news that the baby was healthy and on track for our due date. We got to see the baby on ultrasound for about 40 minutes, see it moving live and listen to the heartbeat. The baby was quite a bit bigger then the times before - it was really fun!

Ultrasound #3 - Healthy Baby

Once we got the good news that the baby was healthy we finally shared the news with our family! It was the longest 9 weeks I have ever kept a secret of such magnitude but it was such a relief to be able to tell our family that we were expecting a healthy baby and were in our second trimester. We shared the news by sending along some family Christmas pics and finishing the pictures with one of the ultrasound pics. Everyone was really excited and shocked! Over the next couple of weeks we spread the news to our friends and family during the holidays which was fun to do in person. It made celebrating that much more fun!

Here is one of the Christmas pics we used to trick our family!

Family of Four

As most of you know, we added a new little furball to our family in May (Yes, May of 2012) - Ruby Penny McNamara. Ruby (who for a short while was called Penny if you are confused) is a true half sister to Murphy and was actually born 363 days apart from him. We picked her up the day after we got back from our overseas trip and she has kept us on our toes ever since. She is a spunky, defiant little pup who likes to snuggle as much as we let her. She and Murphy became fast friends and spend all day following each other around and playing together. They snuggle during their naps multiple times a day and truly seem to love each other. We are so happy we found little Ruby and added her to our brood. She has turned our lives upside down but is keeping things fun and interesting. Here are some pictures of her over the last couple of months to get you up to speed.
